My first Blog post - A little about my Journey

I thought I would do my first blog so you can get to know me a little better. I always have clients asking me how I started makeup, did I learn from somewhere etc… So no better time than now!

If you read my about me section you would have got a little sense of my start with makeup but I will go in to a little bit more detail. I have loved makeup since around the age of 18 I would always do colourful dramatic looks and play around, mind you my products and kit were very minimal and my blending skills were appalling! I was always excited when it came to that part of the night where I sat down and did my makeup in my room. I loved it! As I got a bit older I started watching YouTubers and beauty gurus and got a little more obsessed and then would sit down and try to recreate their looks. Then my obsession got real with my bestie Tash when we would start talking about makeup and products and buying more and more things! I did makeup on a few friends when they asked just for fun. All the while I was working in the Construction Industry making my way up the corporate ladder in Human Resources. I found a job I loved and got promoted. Life was great! As most would know the mining industry turned and I was made redundant. I remember the day I found out I went home and cried in the shower (typical movie scene). I loved my job and what I was doing. I looked for other jobs and nothing was out there and it was a month before I was due to be married!! I decided to take some time off and clear my head and just enjoy the wedding process. I don’t know who said it or if it was my own thought but it came up to do makeup and just enroll in a course. I thought stuff it I will I have nothing to lose! Side note – I am watching a YouTube video right now on the new Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly hills! Always obsessing over new things! Back to it, I began to enroll in Beginners to Advanced Makeup Course here in Perth. I remember sitting in my husband’s office filling out the paperwork scared out of my wits asking him if I was doing the right thing! He said “Yes just do it!” So I did and my paperwork and I was late and I missed out on it! HA! Typical I procrastinate too much! I thought I would enroll in the next course and in the mean time I got a few friends over and did a few different looks on them and took photos for my upcoming page. I attended a Beginners course where we were taught the basics of makeup and hygiene. I couldn’t attend the rest as we were on our honeymoon. So when I came home I thought I would try to learn as much as I could from watching other people and practicing. Fast forward a bit of time and here I am! I always feel there is a new way or technique to learn with makeup. It is forever challenging me and I love it! I love my clients so much I have a connection with them. We share things during our makeup sessions! I always get asked if I enjoy working as a Makeup Artist and the answer is I don’t feel like its work. That’s how I know I made the right decision.
